Well Child Care
The American Academy of Pediatrics recommends that your child be seen by their primary
care pediatrician at birth, 2 to 4 weeks, and 2, 4, 6, 9, 12, 15, 18, and 24 months. Children
need to be seen by a physician once a year from ages 2 years to 18 years for regular well
child exams. The doctor will weigh and measure your child at each visit to determine
whether growth and development are proceeding normally. At well child visits,
immunizations are given to prevent many of the childhood illnesses.
Your child's vision, hearing, coordination, and social development will be checked. A
complete physical examination will be done on your child. The physician will talk to you
about your child's diet.
